Show FOUL SHOWN BY TUB FlfiHT FILMS Denver, Colo., July 17. The moving mov-ing pictures of the Wolgast- Rivers championship contest havo been thrown on the screen. Tho films were brought here by Eddie Pitts, tho well-known Denver sporting man, who was at tho ringside when the boys mot. The pictures show that Wolgast was the aggressor, but that Rivers proved himself to be a very clever boy. Time and again he made tho champion miss somo hard punches It was also plainly shown that Wolgast used some very rough methods. In the clinches throughout the bout he made much use of his shoulders. Rivors fought an exceptionally clean fight and proved that ho was tho Btronger of the two. He would repeatedly push Wolgast away from him. In the fourth round both boys were fighting like tigers. They clinched and tho results of their efforts ef-forts caused them to go through tho ropes, tumbling ono over the other. Tho same thing happened again in tho eleventh round. Rivers made good use of a straight left and landed on the champion numerous times. Wolgast demonstrated demon-strated that he Is the samo aggressive aggres-sive fighter of old and there seems to be nothing In tho films that would Indicate that his recent operation had left any bad effects, although he seemed exceedingly tlrod from tho tenth round until tho end of the bouL This was probably duo to tho terrific clip at which they traveled. There was not an Idle moment during the contcsL Tho end camo unexpectedly toward tho close of the thirteenth round. Tho boys were in tho loft side of the ring and woro apparently In a clinch. Almost at the samo Instant both boys lashed out with left and right. Wolgast Wol-gast caught Rivers squarely In tho groin, whllo the Mexican's left found Its mark In the pit of tho champion's stomach. Both went down together, Wolgast on top of his adversary. The pictures show how Referee Jack Welch helped Wolgast to hlB feet whllo ho started to count Rivors out. They show that Rivers was on his feet as soon as Wolgast, and It icemed to be almost Impossible to count a man out In tho short space of time that all these things hap-ponqd- When Welch gavo the decision decis-ion to Wolgast It appeared that ho was sending the men to their corners cor-ners preparatory to starting the fourteenth four-teenth round. Immediately after giving the decision de-cision to Wolgast, Referee Welch is seen to leave the ring and Joe Levy manager of Rivers, Is seen running nround in the ring like a wild man, talking to the newspaper men. It appeared very strongly that Rivers Riv-ers was fouled nnd should have won th decision. Tho films are very good and show the fighters plainly. They will bo on exhibition at the Vudltorlum every day this week from 1 p. m., to 11 p. m , after which they will bo taken to various points In tho state Eddie Pitts will announce all tho important points of the contest, as well as the noted characters who are seated at the ringside |
