Show HOG ATTACKS SLEEPING BABY At Union, Salt Lake county, yesterday yester-day a shocking fate almost overtook a 6-montha-oId baby. The child was saved from boinp dovoured by a hog only by the timely arrival of Its fa-thor. fa-thor. Boforo the vicious animal could be driven off It had severely bitten tho baby's hips, one of Its ears and ono pf Its hands. Tho victim of the attack was tho child of Mr. and Mrs. p. W. Knudson. The baby was left In the care of Us fathor, while the mother went to the store to make some purchases. The baby wan placed In a go-cart In the shade of a tree, where It lay peacefully peace-fully sleeping. Knudson went to attend at-tend to some work In connection with his irrigating dltchoB. While engaged In that work Knudson Knud-son heard hlB baby scream. Rushing Rush-ing with all posclble sixed to the place where the baby was, Knudson saw that a gigantic hog, which had been running at large, had overturned the baby's go-cart and was ferociously attacking the child. Knudson succeeded suc-ceeded in driving off the hog, but not without a Bhow of fight on the beast's part As quickly as possible the baby was taken to Murray, where Its Injuries were dressed by Dr. W. H. Roth well. Dr Rothwell hopes to bo able to save the child from lifelong disfigurement. in profusion, and making a good display. dis-play. At 3 o'clock the big ball game was in order This was the feature of tho outing, and drew hundreds of people. peo-ple. The game, between Salt Lake and Ogden teams, was played at the City park diamond and the score was 23 to 22 in favor of the ,Salt Lakers. Ball In Evening. Another important feature -of the celebration was tho grand ball In the Academy of Music hall which began at 9 o'clock and was attended by a record crowd. The U. C. T. held full sway here and enjoyod every moment of tho time from 9 to 12. Tho grand march was the feature of the ball, but many of the new dances wore Introduced. Intro-duced. An equally attractive program was carried out today. The feature of tho forenoon was a drive about tho city In buggies and automobiles and the visitors were shown tho large peach orchards surrounding tho city free of charge by Brigham people, A ball game Is on the program for the afternoon .and a ball In the evening. |
