Show FLYNN IS PERFECT MAN, SAYS DOCTOR East Las Vegas. N. M., June 22. Jim Flynn leads in the first round. Referee Dr. Shaw, official medical examiner, ex-aminer, says Flynn has a slight Bhade in the opening examination. Shaw gives out the disquieting information in-formation In the case of Jack Johnson John-son because of the chest expansion he showed during the examination, that there is ground for fear he may show a lack of endurance in the big battle of July 4. Jack was able to drag only enough air Into his lungs under the eye or the doctor to show an expansion of two and one-quarter inches. x' i; uu ouuncu vv?w nut. w. ..m.i ...v.. ease. From Johnson's deflated chest to the full expansion there was a difference differ-ence of four and one-half Inches. Otherwise they are about as grand a pair of specimens of physical perfection per-fection as It would be possible to find. Dr. Shaw gave out a complete statement, but In the case of John- I son ho tempered it a bit about the chest expansion. Ho contented himself him-self merely with the statement that went like this: ' "Johnson's chest expansion is not up to standard -and would lead one to foar that there might be a lack of J endurance in this altitude." ( Pretty strong, that, oven in those , few cold blooded, dispassionate words. , Here's the doctor's statement in brief form and shorn of all its tech"- J nical verbiage: 'T regard Jim Flynn as one of the most magnificent specimens of physical physi-cal development that I ever examined and 1 have had some wonderfully strong men and natural athletes come before me for observation. "Flynn's eyesight is entirely normal, nor-mal, one Tery excellent point. "His heart and lungs arc normal in every particular, likewise all of his abdominal organs. "In fact, I did not find a single flaw in the man in any particular. "One point stands out to my eye as remarkable. He seems to be possessed pos-sessed of wonderful endurnnce, the f L altitude of Las Vegas not affecting him in the least. "Certainly he is a man who ought to ho able to withstand almost any amount of punishment. "A most careful examination of Jack Johnson's heart, lungs and abdominal organs shows me that he is In a perfectly per-fectly healthy condition, a thoroughly sound man. "But his chest expansion, as will be seen bjr a careful analysis of the measurement I have submitted, will be found to bo somewhat below a certain cer-tain standard and would lead one to fear a lack of endurance."
