Show SUCCESSFUL FIRE DRILL KML The fire drill, which has been made a part of the routine work at all local schools, was given a practical test at the Plngrec sclpol a few dns ago and resulted mot, satisfactorily Ja spite of tho fact that tho school had been in session but two or three days after the opening of the fall term. It was al this school that some waste paper In the cold air shaft became be-came Ignited In some unknown man ner and the smoke passpd up through the colr air ducts, filling all of tho rooms in the building. Tho teachers at once inaugurated tho firo drill and the several hundred pupils marched out of the building In tho short space of about three minutes. The blazo was quickly put out by the firemen and tho building was in no renl danger dan-ger of destruction, but this of courso, was not known to the teachers and pupils when the rooms became filled with smoke. "The children wore nearly all out or the building when we arrived," said Fire Chief A. B. Canfield, In speaking of tho drill. "They marched out in perfect order and I understand tho building was cleared in something like throe minutes. This is h very good showing In view of the fact that school had been In session but a fow days and tho teachers are to bo complimented com-plimented for their work." |
