Show JS B. F. GRANT TO BE NEW POLICE CHIEF. Commlasioners Decide Upon His Appointment Ap-pointment at Session La6t ""Night. SALT LAKE, Dec. 25 B. F. Grant will be Salt Lake's chief of police under the new form of government His appointment was agreed on at a meeting of tho commissioners-elect held Christmas eve In the Boyd Park building. When he was notified of his appointment by the commissioners he was asked to make a study of the polico department and submit a report, re-port, making suggestions and recommendations recom-mendations for its re-organizalion. 1 Mr. Grant will begin his investigation investiga-tion on Tuesday morning and will take chargo of the department on January 2, succeeding Samuel M Barlow. In outlining his policies this morning, morn-ing, Mr. Grant said that he intended to enforce the law to the letter. He says that he will do his utmost to "clean up the city" of the vice and crimo that has flourished here under the "American''' administration, and eliminate the danger to which the boys and girls have been subjected.
