IM BRINGS JOY TOJRIPPIE Christmas brought unusual gladness to Lonnls Morris, an Inmate of tho Deo hospital, even if he Is suffering from the loss of both legs, tho result of a railroad accident which occurred fivo months ago. Moved by the unusual un-usual misfortune of the young man and also by tho fact that ho seems to have been deserted by his relatives, rela-tives, George S. Glen called at the hospital with his automobile yoster-day yoster-day and took Morris out to dinner. The oung man has been In the hospital over since the accident by which he was maimed for life. His relatives, who reside In Fort Worth. Texas, have shown little regard for the boy's unfortunate condition. Thero Is something In their attitude which the hospital management and members mem-bers of local charitable organizations organiza-tions cannot understand It has been learned that his father is a real eBtato dealor In Fort Worth. When the father was first Informed of his son's misfortune ho sent word to give the boy every care and attention. Since that time little or nothing has been beard from him and very little lit-tle can be learned from the young man himself A few days aco a prominent prom-inent club woman left this city for the south and previous to her departure depar-ture Bhe made arrangements to stop off at Fort Worth and Investigate tho matter She has not yet sent back a report. When the case of Morris was brought to the public attention In the newspapers a fow days ago a movement move-ment was started to raise a fund with which to purchase artificial limbs for him. Scores of peoplo have Indicated Indicat-ed a desire to contribute to this fund, the hospital authorities having even received letters of Inquiry from Salt Lake. Because of this widespread wide-spread interest It was deemed advisable advis-able to appoint one person to look after the matter and Mrs W. G Da!-rymplo Da!-rymplo was selected by tho board to take charge of tho fund All thoc desiring to subscribe or make inquiries inquir-ies regarding the young man's case should communicate direct with her. |
