Show H THE MASSACRE AT RESHT. H I ' The Russians did not do much massacring in the wnr with Japan, H but now that they are overawing a weak nation, they are insatiable H in thoir desire to shoot and kill. At Kesht, in Persia, the Cossacks H r liave put to death men, women and children. H The reason they did not slaughter the Japanese is history. The H little brown men, without fear of the "terrible bear," marched north H from the crossing of the Yalu river and drove the arm' of Kuropat-H Kuropat-H , ' kin back to Mukden, where the retreat of the Cossacks became a rout H - and the spirit of war was taken out of the czar's legions. H The Russians have acted like bullies arrant cowards before H their equals and cruel tyrants in pursuit of a defeated enemy. H The massacre of Eesht will convince those who had been in H I doubt as to the wisdom of the United States government in abrogat- H ing the treat' of 1832. A nation made up of a people so low in the H t scalq of civilization as to thirst for the blood of the Jew and other H ' defenseless victims of their hate, is not worthy of an exchange of in- H ternational courtesies. |
