Show M'CLEARY RETURNS 10 REM SCHOOL Aftor spending the night with his folks in this city Earl McClearj, one of the five boys who escaped from the State Industrial school Saturda evening, returned tq, tho school yesterday yes-terday morning and gac himself up. explaining to Superintendent E. G Gowans that he ran away from the institution in-stitution to see his mother. Young McCleary has been a protcgo of tho State school for only ten das but according to his story It has been the most lonesome period of his life It was thought that McCleary had staved with the other iboys aftei their departure from the school and it was a great surprise to tho superintendent superinten-dent when about 10.30 yesterday morning he was approached by the lad, who looked up at him with tearful tear-ful eyes and oxclaimed, "I hope jou'll forgive me, Doctor Gowans, for running run-ning away but I was so homesick to see my mother that I could not help !L" The repentant youth told of having hav-ing boon with tho other boys when they found the unlocked door and having left the school grounds with them A short distance from "tho grounds ho loft them, however, and went straight to his home. Strange to say, none of the searching officers had suspected that any of the bos might go to their homes. Young McClearj Mc-Clearj could give no Information concerning the route taken by the fugitives fu-gitives and no Information has come to searching officers that might aid in their quest. Walter Williams, William Rogers Moroni Murdock and Walter Smith, tho boys still at largo, are belioved to be traveling together aud vhile no Information has been received concerning con-cerning thera, their capture is expected ex-pected momentarily. Each of the boys is dressed In overalls and sweater sweat-er and It Is thought that only one of them Is wearing a haL Tfiolr attire at-tire is not ono suited for outdoor drc3s during the present cold weather and tho hardship of exposure Is expected to aid In the canture of the vonths Tt was learned1 at tho Stntf Industrial Indus-trial school his morning that Arthur Williams, one of the boys. Is at his home In Morgan. The parents telephoned tele-phoned that tho bov bnd returned and that they would bring him to the school today. Williams Is 17 years old and has been an Inmate of the school for some time, 'o trace of the other boys has been found, but tho officers of the school are making a diligent search Parole Officer Edward Rowe Is In Salt Lake today working on the case. |
