Show DEATH m OF A death mask, hearing every line that marked the face of Herman Bang, the Danish author who 'died in this city a "week ago, has been completed by Luke Crawshaw and will accompany accom-pany the lemalns of the distinguish ed Dane to Copenhagen. The body will be shipped from Ogden February Febru-ary 10th and will be placed on a steamer leaving New York for the Danish capital February 15. According to the Rev Harold Jensen, Jen-sen, pastor of the Danish church of Salt Lake City, who was a classmate class-mate of the late Mr. Bang, the author was as well known in his own country coun-try as was Samuel Clemens In this country. His literary work while of a popular nature dealt largely with social questions and much of the writer's efforts were given to depleting de-pleting the struggles of the prole, tarlat political and industrial. His work Is said to have already had .1 marked effect in relieving some of the worst conditions among the slum classes, of Copenhagen and otuer Danish cities. Manv of hi? writings havo been translated into other European Euro-pean languages. At the time of his death Bang was on his way around the world He suffered suf-fered a stroke of apoplexy while on the Overland Lfmited between Cheyenne Chey-enne and this city and died shortly after he had been taken off tho train and removed to the Dee hospital. |
