Show COMMISSION WILL INSPECT QUARRIES lchi, Feb. 4. In a few days the state capitol commission will lsft the Lehf black marble quarries to consider the advisability of using some of the stone in the construction of the new capllol building Visitors to IohL invariably in-variably express admiration of this city's public buildings, which aro constructed con-structed of the black marble found In such large bodies west of Leh(. The stone used In the Lehi buildlngB Is unpolished, but tests havo shown that tho marhle will give as beautiful a luster as the famous Belgium black marble. Professors John T Caine, of the Utah state agricultural college, and E. W. Ellington, of tho Idaho college at Moscow, conducted a successful stock-judging contest in Lohl yesterday, yester-day, under tho auspices of the local farmers organization. The affair was attended by about 400 farmers, who brought with them horses, cattle and swlnc of leading breeds. The points peculiar to each breed were pointed out and explained. It was probably the most profitable farmers' meeting over held here. 11 Ivchl will soon have a strictly convenient con-venient and modern playhouse. George P. Garff, who recently purchased a building on Main street, which has a storeroom on the ground floor and an opera houBO upstairs, will, during the summer, remodel tho building, cutting away a part of the opera house floor and leaving the other part as a balcony. The ground floor will be used as the main floor of the opera house proper. A stage and dressing rooms will be built across the end. When the changes have been made the building will scat about 1000 people. oo |
