Show incendi'aries BURN DOWN PROVO HOME Provo, Sept. 2. The first fire Provo has had for years, resulting in damage of any large amount, occurred Thursday Thurs-day night in theold R. S. Hlnes residence, resi-dence, corner First South and Fourth West street. The loss was about SL',500 to the building and furniture, which is fully covered by insurance. The fire was of incendiary origin. It had been started in three or four places, whero rags satunitori with oil were found, and the upholstered furniture furni-ture and carpets had also been 11b-erallv 11b-erallv soaked with oil. Tho complete destruction of the building and contents con-tents would probably havo been accomplished ac-complished had not the firebug taken the precaution of closing all the doors and windows. This was most likely done to prevent pre-vent the fire from being seen from the outside till it got well under way, and for that purpose It was effective. The blinds wore drawn on the inside of the windows nnd the outside doors were locked, which shows that whoever set the fire had a key to the placo. "Who started the fire, and why, Is a mvstory, which the officers are trying to solve. The building was ownod by yera Decker, who was In Ogden at the time.
