Show LAND OPENED TO HOMESTEADERS Surveyor General Thomas Hull sent .In a few plats of townships and parts of townships recently surveyed to the local United States land office yesterday. yester-day. That is to say, the entrymnn is allowed to take up 320 acres instead of 160, as in the ordinary ordin-ary homestead, but must resldo on the land. This Is township 32 south, range 17 -wesit, and is In the Escalante valley, sovoral miles northeast of Mo-dena Mo-dena and from six to twelve miles from the Salt Lake Route station of Borryl In Iron county. Township 35 south, rango 10 west, was opened at the request of the governor gov-ernor of Utah, ami the state, through Its land board, therefore has sixty days In which to choose what It wants of this land to sell. After July 11 this laud will be open to ordinary entry under un-der the public land laws. This "land Is nenr Enoch and the Parowan mountains moun-tains at the cast end of Iron county. The township west of It and just north of Cedar City has also been surveyed sur-veyed and will be thrown open to entry en-try May 12 next. A fractional township plat in township town-ship IS south, range 7 east, which is near Orangeville, in western Emery county, will be filed for entry May 12. Some of this land Is subject to coal land withdrawals, and some to other restrictions, which are noted on the plat. Five of the fractional township plats are now embraced without the boundaries of national forests, and nre subject to entry only from such persons per-sons as had "squatters' rights on them previous to their Incorporation within the forest, which was in 1902. These include lafids in township 35 south, range S west, and 34 south, rango 7 west, near Panguitch lake, western Garfield county, in the Sevier forest, and townships G south, ranges 5 and G east, and 5 south, G oast, In the UIiv tah national forest, on the headwaters of Hobble creek and on the boundary between Utah and Wasatch counties. |
