Show SENDS HOUSES TO UTAH MEET San Francisco advices received Wednesday night brought tho word that a special train of twenty-two cars of horses will bo shipped from Frisco to Utah next Tuesday to enter tho thirty-day races to bo held on the one-mlletrnck one-mlletrnck at Lagoon, beginning Mem orlal day. A San Francisco consignment of horses owned by Barney Schreiber will continue through to Denver. The Spreckels stables, say tho advices, will bo shipped to Louisville, Ky., next Saturday. A force of 150 men is employed on the Lagoon track and between 300 and 400 more men, with several teams and wagons, will bo put to work by next Monday. The workmen now employed are removing the brush "and blasting out the stumps. Three carloads of lumbor are on the gTOiind and work on the stables will bo started the first of next week. The track will bo slyty-flvo feet wide. The railway spur for the track has been completed and runs to within a few feet of the site for the grandstand. grand-stand. At the seven-elghtha pole tho truck Is only thirty feet from the electric elec-tric line. The track from tho start to the three-fourths pole will bo only 1 per cent grade. On the back stretch It will be level. The plot of ground on which tho track 1b to be erected Is of ample size to pormlt of any addition that may be found necessary, but tho Intention of the builders Is to anticipate growth of the sport and permanently provide for it from the start. |
