Hjl Chambers, state fish and game com- H I missioner, who returned yesterday M from Fish lake, where for the past three weeks he has been supervising the gathering of native trout spawn, M In the Fish lake spawning station. i. With the completion of the work, Rfl which will be the latter part of next U week, a total of 4,500.000 eggs will HL have been gathered at this station Hk alone Tho station In Provo canyon H will contribute 1,200,000 eggs, to the RMj summer supply of tho hatcheries, while RM 400,000 will be gathered at Peffor's Hi lake 1 These will fill the hatcheries of the RWj state to capacity, the Murray and RflNi Springvillo hatcheries to receive their Rfljj shipments during the coming week. RW Both the Fish lake and the Panqultch RW lake hatcheries are alreadv filled to RW), the limit, 800,000 eggs having been placed in tho Fish lake hatchery and 1,000 nofl eggs in the Panguitch i.iho hatchery. The early salhering of spawn, which -was c-mpleted at Fish lahe the latter part of March, is being distributed distri-buted In the streams tributary to the lake. Fishing conditions in that section of the state. Mr. Chambers says, were never better In the history of the state In three hours on the lake last Saturday, Sat-urday, Mr. Chambers and D H. Mad-sen, Mad-sen, chief doput, caught the Hmit allowed by law with only nine Qish In their possession, an average of more than thre3 pounds 10 the fish. The biggest one was landed by Mr. Madseu, who captured one of the speckled beauties of the Mackinaw varletv weighing six and one-half pounds. |
