Show w QJOCIETY SURPRISE. A big crowd of Ladies of tho Maccabees Mac-cabees gathered, at the home of Mrs. Alma Luddlngton on Twelfth street on Wednesday. June 21, to surprise Mrs Belle M. Hedge The porch was draped with the colors of the order and tables spread under the cherry trees on the lawn and fresh strawberries strawber-ries and cream, cake and coffee was served A delightful afternoon was spent with Lady Hedge, who is now on her way to attend the supreme convention at Atlantic City, she having hav-ing been elected supreme delegate. Although Lady Hedge's family home is in Denver, she is a member of Silver Sil-ver Hive No. 1. In behalf of the members mem-bers of Silver Hive. Dr. Alice Ridgo presented Mrs. Hedge with a gold and silver spoon, wishing her a safo Journev and thanking her for the good work she is doing for her jurisdiction juris-diction Mrs. 'Hedge is a very energetic ener-getic worker and has made many warm friends in Ogden, who wish her a safe and pleasant journey and will give her a royal welcome when she returns. BOYLE-PINGREE. Wednesday in the Salt Lake Temple Miss Beatrice E. Boyle, daughter of Wallace W. Boyle, of the Boyle Furniture Fur-niture Co., and Mrs. Bovle and Vordl Lee Plngrec, son of James Pingree. of the Pingree National ibank, and Mrs. Pingree, were united in marriage by President Anthon H. Lund and Wednesday evening from S to 12:30 a reception to about 150 guests was held at the Boyle home on Adams avenue. Tho rooms were beautifully adorned with roacs and the lawn was effectively effec-tively lighted with many vari-colored lights and attractively arranged with little tables, chairs, hammocks and seats, making with the natural beauty of the grounds a strikingly pretty scene. In the front parlor, which was profusely decorated with roses and foliage, the bride and gropm received the guests. The bride made a charming charm-ing picture in a gown of white marquisette, mar-quisette, over white messallr.e, tho handsome front panel of which was outlined with silk fringes tho entire hem bordered with a band of silk embroidered em-broidered trimming which added beauty and richness and the waist and sleeves in lovely garniture of pearls, and carrying a showor bouquet bou-quet of bride's roses The bridesmaid, brides-maid, Miss Dorothea Browning, wore a lovely gown of pink marquisette over pink messallne and carried pink roses. The groom, and best man, Joe Scowcroft, Jr., were in conventional black. In the dining room pink and whltp roses added to the beauty of the perfectly per-fectly arranged appointments and In the punch room red roses were the flowers used. Refreshments in two courses were served, tho Misses Alvira Boyle, Ruth Wattls, Marguerite Sims, Margaret Bills, Myrtle Lindquist and Alta Calvert Cal-vert assisting. Punch was served during the evening even-ing by Misses Clara Boyle and Ruth Winter and an orchestra furnished a fine program of popular airs. The wedding gifts of silver, cut glass, hand-painted china, choice and useful pieces of furniture, handsome linen and many other appropriate gifts were offered by the host of warm friends of the young couple Mr. and Mrs. Pingree will bo at home to their friends after August 15, at their new nome nt Twenty-seventh and Quincy avenue. MrB. Arthur Wright has been spending spend-ing a few days In Salt Lake with her -Bister, Mrs. Geo. H. Davis. The Misses Gladys and Edna Beard of Coalville are visiting friends in Ogden The young ladies will remain In the city until Sunday. They are the guests of Mrs. H. Jackson and other near friends. |
