Name John Culley of Ogden as President; Visiting- Ladies Enjoy Morning- in a Forty-Mile Auto Trip Athletic Tournament Feature of the Afternoon Banquet and Dance Closes Annual Convention. With a day which was crowded full of Important business sessions and delightful social gatherings the eleventh elev-enth annual convention of the Utah Pharmaceutical association was brought to a close yesterday, the banquet ban-quet last evening being the final number num-ber on the two-days' program During the business sessions of tho day there occurred tho reading and discussion of Important papers and tho election of officers, which resulted In John Culley of this city being chosen cho-sen to head the Utah organization of retail druggists during the coming 12 months. The latter part of the afternoon after-noon and the entlro evening were given giv-en over to pleasure The delegates couvened for tho first business meeting at 10 o'clock in tho morning. In addition to an address by James T" Fetherolf, United States forest examiner, the following papers wqre read and discussed: "Is Pharmacy Properly Represented in Our Lawmaking Bodies at the Present Time?" by Wynn L, Eddy, Brigham City, discussion, II. Secretary Charles Van Dyke, Salt Lake Treasurer II. H. Peterson, Richfield. Rich-field. Tho ladies were most royally entertained en-tertained during tho business sessions of the druggists. In the morning the visitors wore taken for a forty-mile auto ride, which Included a trip to the Utah Hot Springs, through tho canyon and a vlBil to Riverdale. After Af-ter luncheon Lhere was a card party on the veranda of The Hermitage hotel. ho-tel. At -1 o'clock all gathered on The Hermitage grounds for the big athletic ath-letic program, which proved ouo of the most Interesting features of the convention. About two nundred guests assembled assem-bled around the banquet table In tho evonlng and tho closing number on the convention program was truly u brilliant affair. "The Druggist and the Banker," A. R. Hey wood. "The Druggist as a Lobbyist." Senator Sen-ator Georgo J. Kelly. These numbers were interspersed with audevllle numbers, chief among which was an exhibition of magic by Druggist Dean Morlan, "showing how tho quickness of the hands skins the druggist out of dollars." Singing added add-ed to the pleasure of the evonlng and It was near the midnight hour when the druggists brought their convention to a close. |
