George Zum-brich, Zum-brich, a Greek laborer aUout 35 years old, was killed at noon today by a boiler explosion at the rnfne of the Roes Grass Coal company, which Is located six miles east of nere. O D. Baker, the firemnn, was badly injured, injur-ed, although the ddctora think that his wounds, which are mostly bruises, are not dangerous. Thomas Rees, superintendent of the mine, said tonight that he believed believ-ed the men allowed too much water to accumulate in the boiler, which exploded. ex-ploded. The mine was closed for Sunday Sun-day and the two men were merely keeping the boiler going. Both or the men were old employes, having been with the company for a number num-ber of years. Tho body of the Greeic was picked up about 150 feet away from the scene of the explosion ana the omy mark found on his bddy was a small cut above the left eye. It is thought that he was killed by ttie shock. Baiter Ba-iter was right in ihe midst of the explosion ex-plosion and no one can account for the fact that He was uot 'killed. The working apparatus of tho mine was .completely -wrecked ana the mine put out of commission, temporarily at ioast. |
