Show H BULLD THE RESERVOIR. fl The farmers nlonp the Opilcn river und the cannls that branch H from that stream are somewhat worried over the water supply. Tlicv H recall how Ogdon River, when in flood, sends down water enough H for all the farms in this region, were it stored to be used in the hot H summer days. Now they nre in doubt as to whether their beet H crops will matnrc or be lost for want of water. They are appealing H to the county eommissiorfors to name water masters so as to have H their rights to the lessening flow of the water of the river protected. H Over on the Davis & AVcbcr Counties canal, which draws its H supply from the "Weber river watershed, the orchardists and the beet H growers arc whistling a tune of contentment. The river is low, but H when the streams were high, they closed the gates to their big stor- H age dam, and then said, "Rain or shine, we are protected and our H crops are assured." Now, wliile other farms arc suffering because H of .1 scarcity of water, their farms are beginning to respond to the H water that is coming down from the big reservoir in East canyon. H ,, Ts this not a most impressive lesson for the farmers on the Ogden M ' River? Does it not teach the importance of water storage? H The lesson points directly to the absolute necessity o building H the proposed reservoir in South Fork canyon. The farmers, without H waiting another day, should get back of the South Fork project and H make the undertaking an assured success. |
