Show GOOD RAILROAD NEWS. Ogden is to be the center of great railroad activity within a few weeks." Orders have been issued from Chicago to proceed with the doubfe-tracking to' "thV west of here with renewed energy and to hasten the beginning of the double-tracking of the, Southern Pacific from Ogden to the lake, including the approach to the trestle over the Bear River basin of Great Salt Lake. The double-track between Ogden and Farmington is to be completed com-pleted in the shortest possible time and there is talk of night work on the contract. Within the last few days new life lias been infused and the improvement im-provement work is to proceed ns though some new cause had made it imperative for an early completion of the big ilarriman plans for a perfect highway from the east to the west. We. nre -told that the Southern Pacific from Ogden to Wells and fromWijiuenuicca to Sparks is to be double-tracked a year earlier than had been originally planned. Leaving tho gap between Wells nndrtWinnemucea lends color to the report that the Ilarriman people have annexed that part of the Western PaciGe which extends through the Humboldt valley to the Southern Pacific, or have made a deal with the Gould road for a joint use of the tracks where they run parallel. This is all good news to Ogden, as forecasting an excellent railroad rail-road year, on the road and in the local shops, and as adding to Ogden Og-den 's prestige as a railroad center. Some people think that tourists' slogan ought to be changed to read, "See Mr. Morgan's America first." |
