Show QPAPI FT FFVFO i Through the negligence of the physician phy-sician in charge, or of the sanitary officers, of-ficers, two cases Qf scarlet fever In the family of Lee A. Gouchor, 111 Twenty-eighth street, have been left without quarantine through nearly the entire process of the disease. Worse than this, it is claimed that another case of the disease is directly traceable trace-able to the Infection through the lack of quarantine. More than two wcoks ago, when the Gouchor children became HI, Dr. E P. Mills was called to the home and has sinco had charge of both cases. Dr. Mills claims that as soon as he was certain that the disease in question was scarlet fever, he reported tho matter to Joseph C. Wintle, inspector of the sanitary department of the city. This report, according to the physician, was made about two weeks ago, but no action was taken by the sanitary department and the Goucher home remained without a quarantine placard. The sanitary department denies that any such report was made of the case and that no knowledge of a case of scarlet fever at the Goucher home reached the sanitary office until un-til Tuesday, .when a card was placed on the house. Sanitary Inspector Moroni Poulter gays that the family some time ago was quarantined for measles and when the children becamo ill a short time after the lifting of the measles quarantine, it was thought that it was a relapse of the original disease. The Inspector claims that no one knows, the exact nature of the disease which 'is now looked upon as scarlet fever, but that the fever quarantine has been, placed on the hous.e because of the complaint of neighbors. |
