Show oo THE VOLUNTEERS Reluming the honors of last year, the members of the Veteran Firemen's association entertained the members of the Five Points Volunteer fire department de-partment at a banquet, entertainment and dance in Eagle hall last night. In addition to the members of the two organizations, there, were their wives and children, together with a number of friends, and more than 400 people assembled around the banquet tables during the evening. It was altogether one of the most enjoyable gatherings for which tho Veteran firemen have become famous. Among the latter there wore present about thirty-five of tho original fire fighters, who attended tho school gatherings of the organization more than thirty years ago. Thchc veterans veter-ans were once moro young again, and in the merry whirl of the square dance those thirty years were forgotten. After the guests had arrived tho , banquet was announced and more than one hundred members of the two organizations gathered about the three long tables in tho banquet room and 1 were served with 11 most elaborate and appetizing array of elands This was followed by tho program, during which Secretary J. R. IIor6pool, of the , Veterans' association, presided as I chairman. I The address of welcome wag deliv-I deliv-I ered by Secretary Horspool and James I Harrop, chief of the Five Points department de-partment responded in a most able manner. Probldent W. H. Wright of the Veterans' association, was next called upon and John Austin, one of the city councllmon and likewise a veteran flrQinan, spoke on behalf of the city council. Chief of Police Thomas E. Browning also responded to a call for a speech, as did Fire Chief A. B. Canfleld later In the evening. eve-ning. The cntertumment program was as follows: I Sword dance, Mies Browning.
