Show i urti i Unit OfiLL rntHL 0 rL hi h U II Lf LIU U 1 L CU 83 B U High wind and altogether unfavorable unfavor-able weather caused another postpone- 1 ment of the aviation moot at Salt Lake yesterday afternoon. At 1 o'clock the wind had attained an average velocity of forty milos per hour, making aeroplane aero-plane flights an utter impossibility. Many from this city who had arranged to attend the meet yesterday abandon- ! ed the trip, after learning that thcro was not the slightest chanco of the flights. Tho program will be continued over to this afternoon and Wodnesday weather permitting. Attempts will probably be made this afternoon to establish es-tablish altitude iecords, and a prize of $1,000 awaits the aviator who will ascend as-cend to a height of more than 7,000 feet. This will he a most difficult feat, considering that the start Is made at an elevation of 1,500 feet. Clarence Walker, the Salt Lake blrdman, will make another attempt to get into the air this afternoon. As an added feature Sam Perkins will fly his man-carrying kites. The aviation meet has been very successfuly conducted con-ducted so far, the aviation field being patroled by a detachment of soldiers from Fort Douglas. net. |
