Show BUSINESS OPENS UP IN MANY LINES WITH APPROACH OF FALL WEATHER, WEA-THER, AND BUSINESS ON UPLIFT MANY GIVEN EMPLOYMENT Mining Industry of West Looks Brighter Than For Many Months; Railroads Plaoing Men On Payroll In Many Places Salt Lake Evidence that business generally is picking up and that an effort ef-fort is being made by commercial and Industrial leaders to cope with demands de-mands was furnished Monday in several sever-al lines when it was stated that renewed renew-ed activity was apparent. Cunningham, assistant superintendent of motive power of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad, that fifty men had been taken back to worn Monday at the local shops. Mr. Cunningham Cun-ningham said that this augmentation meant that the shop force had been brought to about 90 per cent of normal. It was thought that with conditions continuing to better the complete normal norm-al force would be employed at an early date. The reemployment of these fifty men is said to have a refllection in another industry, that of coal mining. "The coal business," said Mr. Cunningham, "is getting better aud as a consequence increased transportation facilities are necessary." It is believed that the Carbon county mines will shortly Increase In-crease the output, thus providing more miners with work and, Incidently, in creasing the state's payroll. In addition to these features, word lias been received that in the last week more than fifty additional men have been put to work at various mines in the Bingham district. As a result of these encouraging signs, business leaders were optimistic Monday and predicted that within a comparatively short time Utah waulri strike a big stride forward in her march of industrial progress and accomplishment. |
