Show BEAVER COUNTY MINK ACTIVE With silver-lead metals predominating predomin-ating in the district, Beaver county ' is showing considerable activity, and some of its mines have been steadily producing year . in and year out in spite of adverse conditions which now are taken to have reached bottom bot-tom and improvement may be looked for from now on. The old Horn Silver Sil-ver and Milford-Utah, have, maintained maintain-ed production continuously and today to-day are keeping it up. Considerable exploratory work and with encouraging encourag-ing results is going on in many other properties in the great mineral belt west and northwest of Milford. This is the gist of a rather encouraging report re-port brought from southern Utah this week by Edward Bardsley, local man fger of the Independent Silver Mining Min-ing company, which owns a large ' d' main in Beaver Lake district about a dozen miles northwest from Milford The Independent domain of 12 claims adjoins the Galena Mining, now active, and Beaver copper. It has shipped 27 carloads, of good ore from prospecting work alone. It went down 180 feet on the ore and is now sinking a new vertical working shaft with the aim of cutting the ore-bearing fissures at a depth of 500 feet. The shaft is now down 135 feet, and the first station will be cut at 300. A short drift fissure which has produced produc-ed the ore. The cars shipped averaged averag-ed around 27 ounces silver, 47 per cent lead and $2 0 0 gold to the ton. worth today approximately $70 a ton gross. It is expected to resume work in a short time. The Horn Silver is advertising for more miners. Tt is understood that the general price is $4.50 to $5 In the county. The Horn is shipping sev-eial sev-eial cars a week of crude ore and has been employing 75 men. The Quad Metals on the northeast is shipping occasionally. Some of the crude runs up as high as $1.50 a ''on. Tt carries 108 ounces silve-around silve-around 50 per cent lead. A gig and fable are employed in working over some of the old dumps. A carload of this product will soon be shipped and it is expected to average $1.25 a ton. William Nichol? and associates have the Quad Metals under lease. The Galena Mining company. is running a tunnel to cut a prominent ore-hearing fissure under old working work-ing that produce some excellent ore. The Milford-Utah has been one of the steadiest of southern Utah producers! pro-ducers! It has been shipping two or three carloads a day right along for i long time. Mineral Survey. |
