Show Potash Bill Moves Ahead Washington The house committee on mines and mining ordered a favorable favor-able report on the Hudspeth bill authorizing au-thorizing an appropriation of one million mil-lion dollars to be expended by the geological geo-logical survey in determining the location loca-tion aud extent of potash deposits in the United States. An amendment was made to the bill providing that where the survey drills on privately owned lands and discloses the presence of potash,' the owner of the land shall reimburse re-imburse the government for the cost drillling. If no potash is found, the government stands the expense, as it does with reference to drilling on public pub-lic lands. This bill is particularly applicable ap-plicable to lands in the vicinity of Cisco in Grand county, Utah, and to lands n several other states. Another amendment requires the survey upon completion of drilling in any given locality lo-cality to issue a report showing the extent of the deposits found and the cost of drilling. |
