Show LEONARD BOWEN MAYBECHOSEN It is claimed by Republican friends of Leonard Bowen that he will be appointed ap-pointed a member of the new board of town trustees. By a mistake of the Provo printing house that furnished furn-ished the ballots for the city election the name "Bowen" was spelled "B-r-o-w-n." Therefore Leonard Brown and not Leonard Bowen as was intended was the man elected as one of the five members of the new-town new-town board. It was thought that Charlie Beard, who received the next highest number of votes, would therefore be entitled to the fifth place on the board. However, it is claimed by Mr. Bowen's friends that "Leonard Brown" will not show up to take the oath, of office and the remaining re-maining four whose election was sure will proceed to organize and then will appoint Leonard Bowen to fill the vacancy on the board. If this can be legally done it is perhaps the just way to decide who shall take the place in question, for it is very evident that the voters intended Leonard Bowen should be a member of the board for the name "Leonard Brown" received, next to Mr. Hickman, Hick-man, the highest vote on the ticket. |
