The per cent for the en-j en-j tire school, 70.9, was also very creditable. cred-itable. j ' The closing of the Minersville schools for the holidays was marked j by appropriate exercises both on Fri- I day afternoon and in the evening. ' The programs held in the afternoon were conducted as classes, each room i having its own program. Then in the evening a general school program pro-gram was given. The evening program pro-gram suffered from the attention of unknown persons who thoughtfully blew out the fuse for the meeting house by putting a tack in one of the sockets. When the lights had been secured, the parents and friends in attendance were able to enjoy the program. Preceding the closing of school a short program was given under the direction of Miss Bracken and Miss Axtens on Thursday night. Children of the third, fourth and fifth grades presented a dramatization of "Pandora's "Pan-dora's Box," with Gola Carteraa Pandora, and Bertha Pryor as Hope. The Lesser Priesthood held a dance last Friday night to raise funds for an individual sacrament set for the Minersville ward. One of the most enjoyable social affairs of the week was the shower given last week for Mrs. Edna Thompson, who is to become the bride of Ephraim' Meeks of Uinta county some time in January. Mrs. Henry Roberts has been ill, suffering from a form of nervous exhaustion. ex-haustion. A big benefit dance was given by the Red Cross on Christmas Eve. Woodley Bingham and Claude Myers left last Friday for Salt Lake City, where they will spend a part of 'the holiday season. The M. I. A. of Minersville held a special activity evening on Dec. 18, at which a varied program of musical musi-cal and literary numbers was pre- sented to a large audience. At this i occasion the stringed orchestra of; the high school made its first public bow, and was very much enjoyed. |
