And it s a nig breach to fill. The Allies are worn and weary and bankrupt by the struggle. It will require all the force and funds that we can raise to roll back tha Germans. It is now probable that every man who has been drafted and passes the examination exam-ination will be in the battle line or in training camp within six months. Preparations Prep-arations are already being made for the second call of the draft. There was a hope in every American heart that the. soldier boys could be "home for Christmas," Christ-mas," but that hope has gone glimmering. glimmer-ing. It is to be a long, terrible struggle for the liberty of ourselves and for posterity. pos-terity. Shall our children be slaves to some despot? That is the question the winning of the war will answer. |
