Show Little Snow Lett On West Desert The snow has almost entirely disappeared from the desert range of eastei;n Nevada and western Utah, and stockmen again are hauling water to sheep ranging away from the permanent water holes, Selar S. Hutchings of the intermountain forest and range experiment station work, reported re-ported on his return to the Ogden office from the Desert Range station in Pine valley. Different to the section close to Milford and east of here, which areas have been visited by some good storms, Mr. Hutchings said that the Wah Wah and Pine valleys val-leys are dry and dusty and that only a very light blanket remains on the hills of the vicinity. The winter experiments at the station to determine the amount of grazing various types of desert forage can support have been started, he said. Individual sheep have been weighed and placed in six paddocks, separated according to type of plant cover. Records will be kept of weight changes and amount of grazing. Another six paddocks will be put into use for experimental purposes in the spring, he said. |
