The Milford high school basket-! basket-! ball team Monday night hit the stride for which it had been aiming a year and a half, played in a manner man-ner that, was completely beyond reproach and beat Coach Eddie Peterson's fast and rangy Cedar City high school team by a score of 36 to 25! The Milford boys got off to a 4-0 lead right in the start 'with perfectly executed excursions to their opponents' basket, and at no time did Milford's margin become fewer than three points, the first quarter ending with the score 13-9, and the half, 18-13, both in Milford's favor. By the end of the third quarter Milford's margin had been extended to 26-18,' with the final period being played on a fairly even basis, Coach Floyd Kotter sending substitutes in for all positions in the last few minutes min-utes of the game.. . ..... The importance of Coach. .Kotter's .Kot-ter's work, not only in practice but also in handling a game from the sideline, was made evident Monday Mon-day night in the game between the Milford and Cedar second teams, which preceded the main game. For the first quarter, the Milford second string played good ball and led, 11-9, at the end of that period, but from there on Coach Kotter's absence from the sidelines seemed to be the only solution for the ragged playing that the :Milford second players did. During the remainder re-mainder of the game the local boys scored three points, while the Cedar City lads ran up 18 for a final score of 27-14! The game played Friday night with the Dixie high school team as opponents, was a hard-fought affair, af-fair, which could have been chalked chalk-ed up for the Milford players if a few holes in their work had been plugged, according to some who viewed the game, but the loss, by a score of 31-37, was not felt too keenly by local fans for the Dixie aggregation is well known to be a strong one and a tough threat at any time.
