Show And still we continue to have . our light storms every three or four days and unseasonably cool weather making it tough on the sheepmen, who are trying to get their shearing done. Dr. and Mrs. L. F. Kohler and children, Madelyn and Ned, left Tuesday for a visit in Salt Lake City. They expect to return home the first of May when Dr. Kohler will resume his dental work after several weeks convalescence from a major operation. v Mrs. I. Altman returned home Sunday after visiting a week in Los Angeles with relatives and friends. While there she attended the 83rd birth anniversary of her mother, Mrs. Sara Amter. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Morris : and baby son Brent of Culver 'City, California, are visiting at the home of Mr. Morris' parents, Mr. ! and Mrs. William Morris, and with j other relatives and friends. I The Misses Carol and Phyllis , Urie, operators at Thermo, spent : Sunday visiting in Cedar City. : The latter's mother, Mrs. D. Claude Urie, accompanied them back and spent a few days visiting I with them. ! Mr. and Mrs. Donald I. Seger-strom Seger-strom had as their guest the past week Miss Mary Louise Stong of San Francisco. Miss Stong and 1 Mrs. Segerstrom were college chums at Stanford university and, this was her first visit to Utah. : The Dorcas society spent a lovely social evening at the home of Mrs. John Whisler. Tasty refreshments re-freshments were served by the hostess. Those present were Mrs. M. L. Buntin, Mrs. T. E. Gadberry, Mrs. R. L. Gundy and Mrs. j Whisler . Mrs. Robert Schram is the new manager of the local station of the Standard Oil of California, succeeding Rayfield Crawford. Mrs. Schram has had previous experience ex-perience at serving the public in this capacity and also with the office of-fice work in a station at Cedar City. ' Mrs. Lawrence Easton was hostess host-ess to members of her "500" chub Wednesday night. Those present were Mrs. Eddie Leech, Mrs. Pete Banks, Mrs. Vance Fisher, Mrs. Wayne Lyman, Mrs. Dick Johnson. Mrs. Robert Tomsik, Mrs. Charles McCulley, Mrs. Dan Ferguson. ;Mrs. Don Young, Mrs. Julian 'Arnold and Mrs. Elthel Tanner i Lewis. i i Mrs. James Lang left Saturday -for Los Angeles, where she was to : spend a day with her daughter. Mrs. Isabell MeGee, and then pro-1 ceed to El Paso, Texas, for a long- j er visit with another daughter, Mrs. C. L. Cate. Mrs. John H. Walker, with her little daughter, Nora Ann, and new baby daughter Patricia, returned re-turned Wednesday of last week from Delta, where the latter made her appearance during a visit of Mrs. Walker with home folks. Overlooked in The News last week was the birth of a beautiful baby girl to Dr. and Mrs. Max Schlachter, printed announcements carrying the good news to innumerable in-numerable friends of the family. The little miss, Ellen Ruth, made her appearance Saturday, April 15 and weighed seven pounds at birth. Mrs. L. F. Kohler entertained members of her bridge club Thursday of last week with Mrs. A. L. McDonald, Mrs. A. A. Mclntyre Mc-lntyre and Mrs. John M. Williams winning the first, second and third high score prizes. Others present were Mrs. H. V. Carlson, Mrs. K. B. Coon, Mrs. Harold Cline and Mrs. Thomas Campbell. Mrs. Gene Kirk entertained members of her bridge club Tuesday Tues-day evening with the prizes being received by Mrs. Kirk for club prize, Mrs. William Cochrane for high points and Mrs. Rudolph, Nielsen Niel-sen for high honors. Others present pre-sent were Mrs J. M. Williams, Mrs. David S. Williams, Mrs. J. C. Smith, Mrs. J. M. Hughes and Mrs. M. H. Pool. . Mrs, Sam Cline returned Sunday Sun-day from Salt Lake City, where she visited with friends and enjoyed enjoy-ed a further visit with her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. M. D. Madsen, and little daughter who had gone up-state earlier for a visit in Willard with Mr. Madsen's family, before returning re-turning to her home near St. Louis. They probably had not reached their home when word was sent of the sudden death of the elder Mr. Madsen. Don Bird is spending a fifteen day furlough here, having just completed his boot training at Far-ragut, Far-ragut, Idaho. Don arrived here iSaturday to find he was "papa" again to asix pound fifteen ounce boy, born Friday in the Lincoln county hospital. The young man has been named Terrance K. The Birds have another son two years old. Mrs. Bird and baby boys will make their home in Pioche while Don serves Uncle Sam in the navy. Caliente Herald. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Easton entertained members of their "500" club Tuesday evening. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Willis Whitbeck, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Christen-sen, Christen-sen, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Johnsor and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tomsik. The prizes at "500" were received by Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Whitbeck Whit-beck for high points, while Mr. Christensen received the consolation consola-tion prize and Mr. Johnson the traveling prize. A handkerchief shower was given Saturday evening by Mts. L. F. Kohler in honor of Mrs. A. A. Mclntyre, who is leaving with her -family the first part of May to make their home in Salt Lake City. Bridge was played during the evening with the prizes being won by Mrs. Thomas Campbell and Mrs. K. B. Coon. Others present pre-sent were Mrs. Al Kirk, Mrs. Ezra Lyman, Mrs. Dan Hutchings, Mrs. John M. Williams and Mrs. Vance Fisher. Mrs. J. S. Rickerson was hostess to members of her bridge club Tuesday night at her home in Minersville. Those enjoying the evening were Mrs. William Morris, Mor-ris, Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Mrs. James Smithson, Mrs. Kenneth Hollis, Mrs. Eugene Pitchforth. Mrs. F. A. Bingham and Mrs. Wallace Morris. The prizes at bridge were won by Mrs. William Morris for high points and Mrs. Pitchforth for high honors, while Mrs. Wallace Morris received the consolation and traveling prizes. Honoring Mrs. A. A. Mclntyre, members of her bridge club entertained enter-tained at a surprise party Tuesday Tues-day evening at the home of Mrs. Fay Bradfield. A covered dish luncheon was enjoyed with each member furnishing a dish. Mrs. Mclntyre was the recipient of many beautiful handkerchiefs from her friends. Those present were Mrs. Ronald Banks. Mrs. Lloyd Lee, Mrs. Ben Price, Mrs. Harry Garfield, Mrs. Ray Mills, Mrs. Clarence Grimshaw and Mrs. Ross Palmer. The prizes at bridge were received by Mrs. Price, Mrs. Grimshaw and Mrs. Mills. V |
