Show When a ship reaches the inter-j national date line and crosses the one hundred and eightieth meridian from east to west, the ship's time is advanced twenty-four hours or one calendar clay. Thus the crew will be paid for one full day they do not serve. Upon the return from the Orient and the one hundred and eightieth meridian is crossed west to east, the time is set back twenty-four twenty-four hours and the crew make good the day gained. The only way to defeat de-feat this is to return to the United States via the Suez canal. o |
