Show Town and County Lower Tax Levies The board of county commissioners, commis-sioners, in regular session the first of the week, were able to effect two-tenths two-tenths of a mill net reduction in the county levy. The county road levy was reduced from a full mill to .7 but the county library fund was increased increas-ed to one mill from .9. All other county levies were left as for last year, the complete 1934 county levies being as follows: J General fund 2.5 Mills Sinking fund 1-5 Bond and interest 1-5 " County road 7 Dependent mothers 5 Indigent 6 Old age 5 Library - 1-0 " The school district, while reducing, the operating levy from 10 to 9.5 mills, has found it necessary to increase in-crease the bond and interest fund 1.5 mills to 5.5, so that the school levy will be one mill higher than last year. Milford town, by doing away with the special improvement levy of one mill, is able to reduce the total from 11 to 10 mills, while the Beaver city levy stands at 18.5 the same as last vear. The state tax commission has decreed de-creed a raise of .4 mill in the state levy and this, with the mill increase for county schools, will boost the general levy of the county tax payer 1.2 mill over last year despite the decrease de-crease given by the county commission. commis-sion. For Milford town taxpayers, however, the increase will be only .2 of a mill by reason of the decrease in the town levy. Beaver city taxpayers tax-payers will get the full benefit of the 1.2 mills increase, since the city levy remains the same as last year. |
