Show Auxiliary Contest Winners Announced The 1934 yard and garden contest conducted by the Milford American Legion Auxiliary, came to a close Tuesday evening with the announcement announce-ment of the winners and a very enjoyable en-joyable children's party given at Legion Le-gion park. The yard and garden of Mrs. Thomas Beard were declared winners of first place while second award went to Mrs. William Cochrane. Coch-rane. The judges for the contest were Charles E. Beard, Mrs. Mary Fernley and A. E. Clark. More than 150 youngsters were served with ice cream and cookies by the Auxiliary ladies, following which a number of games were played and races run, the success of the latter events having been contributed to in large measure by the activities of some of the Milford Legionnaires and friends. Members of the ccommittee having the contest in charge have asked The News to convey the thanks of the committee for the splendid work on the part of judges and others who contributed toward the success of the contest and the party which furnished fur-nished a fitting conclusion to the summer contest activities. |
