Show I I Commission Make Salary Changes It being the duty of outgoing county administrations each four years to fix the salaries of incoming 'county officials, in accordance with 1 statute, the salaries in Beaver county I came in for an overhauling at the regular meeting of the commssion-!ers, commssion-!ers, held the first of the week. The ; salary of the county attorney ($1000 I a year) was the only one not chang- ed. The annual remuneration of the county recorder suffered the great- est reduction, $150, while the salary i of the treasurer was given a $100 boost. The salary of the assessor was also increased $50 but with the provision that he should devote the jfull 12 months to the job and the re-spective re-spective . political parties will be ! asked to pledge their candidates to this full-time service. The readjustment of salaries in Beaver county is in line with similar action taken in other counties, in : some of which the cuts were drastic indeed. In Juab county the clerk and j treasurer were cut $450 each, the sheriff $500, recorder $400, the assessor as-sessor $600 and the attorney $240. This county fell from fourth to fifth I place in classification, based on assessed as-sessed valuation, and the cuts were the result of this reduction. With the reduced salaries in effect, the j salaries will be comparable with (those in Beaver county. Incidentally, the Juab officers have been working j the past two years under a 10 per : cent voluntary reduction in salary, so I .that the further reduction will not (ibe quite so hard felt. The present and future salaries in 1 Beaver county are as follows: I Office Present Future j Clerk $1350.00 $1300.00 Treasurer 1200.00 1300.00 j Recorder 1150.00 1000.00 I Sheriff 1350.00 1300.00 Assessor 1150.00 1 200.00 |
