Show GOOD FARM RETURNS IN JUAB COUNTY Nephi farmers who purchased farms in Round Valley, southeast of Scipio, have harvested large crops of dry land wheat this season. On the Sunnybrook farm, owned by C. W. Johnson and Fred M. Beck, 7200 bushels were raised and on the Pax-man-Howell farms, 8400 bushels were harvested. One year ago last spring, Johnson and Beck purchased the Sunnybrook farm, consisting of 1440 acres, from the Anderson-Taylor Development Co. of Manti, and last summer they plowed plow-ed up and seeded 300 acres. This year's harvest averaged a little less than 25 bushels to the acre, and 100 acres averaged 34 bushels to the acra. They have approximately 325 acres, plowed and ready for seeding this fall. Tractors and harvesters are being be-ing used exclusively. On the Paxman-Howell farms they cropped 400 acres this year, with an average yield of 21 bushels to the acre, totaling 8400 bushels. They have about 400 acres ready to plant this fall. The Paxman-Howell farm consists of about 1000 acres. Nephi Times-News. |
