Show BEAVER STOPS THEM WHEN MILLARD CANT When Sheriff Jensen says "stop!" he means just that. Two fugitives who failed to stop when commanded to dd so by the Millard county authorities, auth-orities, and stepped on the gas, tried the same trick upon reaching Beaver, Beav-er, but were brought to a sudden halt when the sheriff's gun poured No. 1 shot into the fleeing car. Sheriff Jensen was called from his bed shortly after mid-night Sunday aud requested to stop a couple of Salt Lake lads driving a stolen Ford sedan. The sheriff at Fillmore had attempted to stop the pair as they raced through that town, nearly striking the sheriff who stood in the street to stop them. Accompanied by Attorney Vance Wilson o Fillmore, Fill-more, the Millard county sheriff started in pursuit. However, finding find-ing that they could not overtake the fleeing car, they called Neils Jensen by phone from Cove Fort. Securing his shotgun, Jensen stationed sta-tioned himself near the school building build-ing and as the car came racing down the street, he commanded them to stop. As they did not slow down the sheriff turned the gun on them and fired at the tires. The shot struck : the car along the running board, frightening the driver so badly that he turned the machine into the ditch. The boys were between 18 and 20 years of age, nicely dressed, and bound for Los Angeles. The Millard county authorities arrived shortly after the capture and took the culprits cul-prits and car back with them. |
