Show SPEAKERS FEATURE OF POULTRY MEET SUNDAY AFTERNOON A number of interesting speakers appeared on the program of the open house held by the Milford Poultry Association As-sociation in South Milford Sunday afternoon. af-ternoon. The meeting was attended by poultry . growers from all over the county and the general public as well, who were given an opportunity of hearing Lew Mar Price of Beaver, county agent, and Mrs. Maggie Johnson John-son of Adamsville, a successful turkey grower, speak on poultry subjects and of .receiving Chester Haskell's re: port of the Utah Poultry Producers Association Convention proceedings. Lew Mar Price, Beaver County Agent, made a general talk on chicken chick-en raising, which covered the subject thoroughly and many good points were brought out. Mrs. Maggie Johnson of Adamsville gave an interesting talk on "How I fed and "fattened my 1930 turkeys." Mrs. Johnson's remarks were valuable to other growers, because of her practical prac-tical experience and the success she has had in raising turkeys. From seven turkey hens she marketed 108 turkeys, all of this number being graded choice by the graders for the Utah Poultry Producers Association which is a member of the Northwestern Northwest-ern Turkey Producers Association. These turkeys brought Mrs. Johnson a good profit and she is entirely satisfied satis-fied with her years work. Mr. Wadsworth, teacher under the Smith-Hughes act in the Beaver High School brought his moving picture machine and gave an illustrated talk on chicken raising, which was enjoyed by all present. These reels and slides are very complete and Mr. Wadsworth is fully capable to talk on the subject. This equipment equip-ment will be in the county for a short time and other communities can arrange ar-range to have the lecture and pictures given by arranging with Mr. Wadsworth Wads-worth or Mr. Price. . Chester Haskell, Beaver County delegate to the Annual Convention of the Utah Poultry Producers Association, Associa-tion, made a report at the meeting, covering the main points brought out by the various speakers during the three days. session in Salt Lake City. The Convention was held in the ballroom ball-room of the Newhouse Hotel. The first day of the Convention was given over to the Turney Growers branch of the Association, when nine speakers speak-ers prominent in turkey production took part in the program. The night meeting was composed of the council where only those representing branch associations from out over the state, were allowed to vote. The policy for next year was planned. It was the unanimous feeling of the delegates that the 1930 turkey crop had been very successfully and satisfactorily handled and they re-elected the former form-er officials to serve during 1931. The second and third days were given over to the chicken and egg production. A complete and interesting interest-ing program consisting of music and addresses by 12 prominent speakers was given and was largely attended. Mr. Haskell described his visit to the new cold storage, egg grading and feed grinding and mixing plant in Salt Lake City of the Utah Poultry Producers Association. He also described des-cribed his visit to the chicken colony settlement of the Midvale Home Finance Fin-ance Corporation located at Midvale, Utah. The poultry meeting was Drought to a close by a few words from Mr. Price. |
