A mow'sllde Tuesday Tues-day morning at the lilg Cottonwood property of the Utah Coalition .Mhi. u company, twtuty-three mile (southeast (south-east of this city, caused the loss of three lives and damage to buildings and machinery of several thousand dollars. The men who met death were: Victor Vic-tor Pearson, married, of Park City; Frank Hanlcy. nlngle, and I'cter Van Wlnegardcn or Holland. The Injured were: George lilulr, George Juatensen and Jack Allsop. There were twenty-two men at the mine. When tho snow-slide struck tha bulldln;? the men were In bed. Wher the slide uruck tlio frail buildings, they were swept away as If they had been a pa k of cards. Many of th men wero swept forward with the buildings and burled In tlio snow, tc be later dug out by their comrades. A number of the men had become alarmed at the situation the night be fore, and had slept in a tunnel. It is due to this fact that the death list was not larger. |
