Conference will bo held In the academy next Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4 and 5., and the Stake Farmers' Institute will be held Monday, Feb. 6. The new piano has come and we now have one in tho gymnasium and music room, too. We now' have a new Janitor, Mr. Abram Workman, and everything around the academy looks neat and cloau. The painters are progressing nhsiy. They are now showing their skill In tho assembly room. , Two basket ball games were played In the gymnasium Saturday evening. J The first game was played between the Ifc'scrot town boys and tho main team of the academy. Tho score was thirty-one thirty-one to six in favor of the academy. The second game was between the students In the academy from Meadow and Deseret, and the score was fifteen to ten In favor of Meadow. Tho District School gave a dance in tho gymnasium Friday evening for the benefit of a school library. Refreshments, Refresh-ments, which consisted of ice cream and punch, were sold. The basket ball team has returned from a trip to the southern part of the state. On the 21st they met the Hranch Normal learn at Cedar City, and were defeated by a score of twenty-four to fifty. Our boys were much smaller than the Normal boys, and thin, combined with no bounds In the hall, handicapped our team materially. ma-terially. We have a return game with tho Normal boys in our own gymnasium gym-nasium on February 3. On the 2:ird the Hinckley boys met the Murdock Academy team and were again il-feated. il-feated. At lh- r.d of tho first half the score utood tea to fourteen In favor of our team. In the change of baskets our boys went to pieces and wo lost by twenty-seven to thirty four.
