Show NAVAL BILL REPORTED. Measure Carries $125,421,538, Which Is $5,929,316 Less Than Current Appropriations. Washington. Currying a total of J 125,42 1. 5:!8, the naval appropriation bill was reported to the house on Saturday Sat-urday by Chairman Fobs of the navy affairs committee. The bill carries $5.9211,316 less than the current appropriation, and $2.04 4,-C21 4,-C21 less than the estimates submitted by the navy department. The Increase of the navy program calls for an appropriation of $34,270,-816, $34,270,-816, of which ir,,8a2,y2g for the first year is Inserted In the present bill. This increase contemplates two battleships bat-tleships of 27,000 tons, at $11,835,408 each; two colliers at $1,000,000 each; eight torpedo boat destroyers at 1S23,-000, 1S23,-000, and four submarines at $.".0(1000 each. The cost as given Is estimated on the basis of building by private contract without restriction. |
