Show APPROVE EXTENSION OF PARCEL POST SERVICE Commerce Commission Consents to the Changes in Weights and Rates Proposed by Burleson. Washington. J'oiit master General llurleson's proposal to Increase the weight limits of parcel post packages In the first and second roues from twenty to fifty pounds, to admit books to the parcel post, and to reduce rates In the third, fourth, fifth and sixth zones, was approved Saturday by the Interstate commerce coiumiss'on. The maalmiun weight of parcels to ail soBew beyond the second waa Increased In-creased from 11 to 2o pounds. Tbe commission's conseut" to the proposed changes were transmitted In three letters from Chairman Clark to PvetoMurier General Burleson. The approved ap-proved changes in rates and weights to be In effect January 1, 1914, follows: To reduce tbe rates for the third zone from 7 cents for the first pound and 5 cents for each additional pound, to 6 rents for the first pound and 2 cents for each additional pound. To reduce the rates for the fourth zone from 8 cents for the first pound and 6 rente for each additional popnd, to 7 cents for the first pound and 4 cents for each additional pound. To reduce the rate fur tbe fifth tone from 9 Mints for the first pound and 7 cents for each additional pound, to 8 rents for the first ponnd and 6 cents for each additional pound. To reduce the rates for the sixth sone from 10 ceuts for the first pound and 9 cents for each additional pound, to 9 cents for the first pouriVl and 8 cents for each additional pound. |
