The United States government probably will make no reply, re-ply, for the present at least, to the British or German notes respecting respectively the use of American flags on foreign vessels and tbe dangers dan-gers to neutral shipping in the naval war zone about the British isles, but will stand firmly on its warning against destruction of American lives or vessels. Many officials who knowj the situation expect Bome further move only in event of an overt act.
