Show man. Boxinj and Wrestling Contest. The boxing and wrestling contests con-tests pulled off at the Marsoni, Wednesday afternoon, brought :mt a large crowd from the surrounding sur-rounding towns and localities and the spectators surely got their money's worth in entertainment along the sporting line. The two preliminary boxing contests, a three round mill by McClain and Jacobs, both lightweights, was pluckily contested with Jacobs getting a 'shade the better of McClain in every round. The grill between Pierce of Delta and Keller of Hinckley, two big fellows, fel-lows, in a four round mill, was 5uite exciting as these two fellows fel-lows both put up a fast fight, giving and taking, and all the while kept on their face a good natured smile. Honors were about evenly divided in each round in thi3 conflict. The chief bout between Allred of Delta, and Jackson of Hinckley, for a six round go in the fistic arena, was not the classy variety of milling that many had expected to see; they exchanged a few verhanded blows in the first two rounds and when the gong clanged clang-ed for the third round Jackson's nerve had wilted and he remained remain-ed in his chair while refree Betz counted time and then declared Allred the winner. The wrestling wrest-ling match between Blackburn and Slaughter was vigorously contested, the former getting the first fall and Slaughter retaliated re-taliated by taking the last two falls and the money. Blackburn is a gamester and a good wrestler, wrest-ler, but Slaughter's greater weight, strength and vitality was too much for him to overcome. over-come. Mrs. Walter Moffitt left for Beaver, this Thursday morning for an extended visit with her parents. |
