The change into the tropic heat makes a day hard to bear and sleep impossible. This is jungle country and we , have Bengal tigers and other crea-i tures for playmates. Malaria and cholera prevail here. My new APO in 214; and here is a hint to the boys in. this theater -since I've had the Chronicle com- ing first class instead of second. I get the paper in two weeks instead of four months. I am still getting Sept., Oct.. Nov.. and Dec. issues. Toots wrote to 'Dear Suzy" right after Thankgiving. It seems she thought a turkey was plenty big and had to eat turkey for a whole week. Well, Toots, that's rough. But I'll trade you a u hole month's supply sup-ply of our C rations we get. for, your turkey. Keep signing your name. Toots. ! Keep the Chronicle coming, I en- ' jy reading it. James Colby i. Melvin and Jesse E. Beckstead, both of whom are in the service, met unexpectedly in San Francisco last week. Melvin thought Jesse overseas, but Jesse's duties brought him to port. The two boys profited very much by the meeting. David Ray Evans, RM 3 c. with the Navy has had two promotions in the last year. He is now on a ship at Okinawa, in the thick of it. |
