Show 1 Russia Hammers a Destiny 1 All of the reading we heretofore did on Russia was about the Tzarism of that country; the rottenness; rotten-ness; the corruption; the grinding down of the lower low-er class official rottenness characterized by a huge bear, of enormous strength, but still under lethargy of a hibernation from which it had not fully emerged Then we read of the populace killing the weak Tzar and his family, and following that by choice purging of corrupt official after corrupt official. Now we read of a young nation, just awakening, fighting with a common patriotism, a togtherness amazing, with every shoulder of man, woman, a-ged a-ged adult or husky girl, taking his or her part in a nobility of stand which none thought possible. v Russia has been .the anomaly of nations; from the present trend, surely it evidences that in the postwar post-war pact, she will be a mighty factor. The Chicago Tribune a week ago had two cartoons car-toons one of Avery being carried out of Montgomery Mont-gomery Ward & Co.'s store by soldiers, and alongside along-side it, Franklin Delano Roosevelt being carried out of the White House, lengthy cigarette holder and all, in the very same fashion, on a chair made by the hands of Mr. and Mrs. Voter. Very striking. |
