IVews BIRDIE LOU HILTON HHS Send Delegate to Conference Elvin Tanner, Hinckley high school sch-ool studentbody president, represented repres-ented the HHS at the annual Rotary Rot-ary Conference in Salt Lake City, held last week from Sunday to Wednesday. The conference, sponsored by the Rotary Organization of Utah is for outstanding students of the Utah high schools. The delegates are chosen on scholarship, personality and leadership. The delegates are royally entertained enter-tained during their visit and are priviledged to hear some of the outstanding leaders of this state speak. They also visit points of interest in and around Salt Lake City, and the various departments of the University of Utah. Several of the students are awarded schol- J arships to the school of their choice. cho-ice. Elvin will make a, full report of his trip to the studentbody on an assembly in the near future. Visit State Legislature . . . The Junior and Senior Classes of Hinckley high school spent Wednesday Wed-nesday of last week in Salt Lake on a a field trip to visit the Utah Legislative sessions of the Senate and House of Representatives. The group chartered a bus for the trip and left Hinckley at 5:30 a. m. They arrived at the capitol in time for the opening of the House of Representatives session, in the morning. They attended the Senate session in the afternoon. The trip -concluded a course of study of the various forms of government. gov-ernment. Mrs. Schena and Mr. Allred accompanied ac-companied the students. |
