Show Deficient Water Supply Reported In River Basins From the U. S. Department of Commerce Water Supply Forecasts for the Western United States, issued is-sued as of March 1, 1951, a less-than-normal water supply is indicated. indi-cated. The report in part, reads: Sevier and Beaver River Basins: Below-normal precipitation during February repeated a familiar story in the Sevier and Beaver Basins. For the past year precipitation over ov-er the area has been markedly deficient. de-ficient. February precipitation averaged about 40 of normal with not a single station reporting an amount equal to the normal for the month. The storms of the first week in March brought several inches of snow to the area and may afford some slight relief to the Drecioitat- ion deficiency. The forecasts as of March 1 are about 5 lower than those issued a month ago. Assuming near-normal precipitation for the remainder remain-der of the season, 50 to 70 of normal runoff is in prospect for the area. However, should subsequent precipitation equal the maximum of record, less-than-normal water supplies may still be expected for the basins. |
