Show HHS Are Victors Over Millard By Two Points In the last game of the basketball basket-ball season the HHS Mustangs showed the stuff they were made of and came through with a 33 to 31 victory over the high-rated Millard Eagles. The scoring started when Hardy of Hinckley and Munson of Millard were awarded a double foul. Hardy Har-dy sank his shot while the Millard one went off the rim. Soon after that HHS put through the first basket of the game. After that the scoring was point for point. HHS ended the quarter on top 9-7. The Eagles picked up steam in the pre-half rally and racked up 10 points to 5 for the Mustangs. The score at the buzzer was 17 for MHS and 14 for HHS. The third period play was a fine display of skill and sportsman -ship on the part of both teams. Although the teams wer evenly matched in their floor play, Millard Mil-lard was on top 25-24 at the beginning be-ginning of the fourth quarter. With the crowd alternately cheer ing and sighing, with Marshall and Munson of Millard and Robinson of Hinckley going out on five, the final stanza was an exciting one. The game was anybody's bet to within two minutes of the ending. end-ing. Both Millard and Hinckley had the chance to break the tie and emerge victorious, through sev eral charity shots. Millard's shots fell short, however, and HHS took over the victory 33-31. Hardy maintained high shooting possition with 13, while Bliss, who played an exceptionally fine game was close behind with 12. The HHS Second Team holds an unofficial title as the champion of the 2nd team play. They have been defeated only 3 times in both league and pre-season play. |
