Show SEIZE RECORDS IN COAL PROBE KnnsaB City, Mo., Aug. 31. Records Rec-ords by the use of which coal operators oper-ators of Kansas City nro chnrged to have controlled the price nnd output of coal mined In Knnsas and sold In this city were seized today by a deputy depu-ty acting under an authorization Issued Is-sued by John T. Gose, assistant attorney at-torney general of Missouri, who Is conducting a coal Investigation here for tho state. The records were the property of tho Southwest Coal bureau, according accord-ing to the testimony, which disclosed It to bo an association of coal operators. oper-ators. W. E. Dlucher, secretary of the bureau, was subpoenaed beforo the investigating committee following follow-ing the seizure of the records. The bureau, according to Mr. IHu-cher's IHu-cher's testimony, received from the companies composing It a dally report re-port of the mount of coal bought, sold nnd left on hand, with the price to each. Each company was given an initial and tho reports bore no nnmes. From these dally records Mr. Dlucher said he compiled n general gen-eral report, which was sent to each member company. Mr. Gose pointed out that by th9 arrangement other members would bo ablo to utilize a surplus of a slnglo member nnd In this way control the prlco. Tho testimony revealed tho fact that the price of the coal, all varieties, was practically the samo each day for nil of tho member companies com-panies of the association. |
